"BIRDS …and Other People"

Birds are a recurring theme in my drawings, paintings and professional children's book projects. I have assembled works from all three categories in a public exhibition in an attempt to show that, despite the stylistic differences these are all the product of one mind. Mine.

I've published a catalog with a short essay which explains this basic premise. It's published online, on-demand and available here.

Included in the exhibit are 32 drawings and paintings from my personal sketchbooks. I've paired observational nature drawings with whimsical and meditative paintings which include birds. Nearby glass display cases showcase, sketches, book dummies and final illustrations for four published picture books:

"Owl Sees Owl" written by Laura Godwin, 2016, Schwartz & Wade

"Over in the Wetlands: A Hurricane on the Bayou Story" by Caroline Starr Rose 2015, Schwartz & Wade

"Counting Crows" by Kathi Appelt, 2015, Simon & Schuster

"The Dandelion's Tale" by Kevin Sheehan, 2013
